It's Costume Time Again

With October well under way, my dining room has been filled with the churning sound of my 15 year old little Singer. After placing an ad on Craigslist for custom Halloween costumes, I've been serving my time creating, cutting, stitching and sighing.

I had two orders for custom costumes, and created two Little Red Riding Hood outfits of my own design, which are listed for sale in my Etsy store. I am also creating a sailor costume for Grace and Jake and I are going to work together on his scarecrow outfit. He plans to stand in the yard, tied to a post, and scare all the little kids. What can I do?

I have finished the first custom order: Katara the Airbender from Nickelodeon's Avatar series. This costume includes four pieces: pants, robe, belt and parka. It's for a 9 year old girl in Arizona. I am really pleased with it now that it's done. I'm anxious to hear how my customer likes it!

Grace poses for you here, displaying my handiwork.

The Little Red Riding Hoods, or "Little Reds" as we affectionately call them at home, have not sold yet, but I'm still hopeful. This lousy economy is killing me. If only the crash could have waited until after I'd sold my costumes! Anyway, here is Little Red, as modeled by the daughter of a friend.

I have also just listed the Sash Skirt from last year in my Etsy store - taking custom orders. I love these skirts and hope to make several of them this fall. I think a nice Thanksgiving one would be great. I wonder if I'll be able to find the time for that....

My sister freaked out when she saw the Katara costumer! I'll have to tell you about the Centaur costume being fashioned for Benjamin right now...
