At Least a Candy Apple

I think the peak of fall foliage is over. Or, it's almost over. I haven't gone apple picking yet. We always go apple picking. I love going apple picking. We go to this orchard that sits on top of a hill and you look out over a lake and mountains. It's always sunny there and I just love it. We haven't had time to go yet this year and I'm very much afraid it will pass us by.

So, I made these the other night. Store bought apples - completely lame - but so delicious and beautiful anyway.

Have you ever made candy apples? It's so easy. I was very surpised how easy. And, it's too much fun to play with the leftover candy-lava afterwards. If you drizzle it into cold water, it hardens instantly creating the most amazing swirlies and spikes and drip castles in the bowl. Glittering red - like melted ruby slippers. I had way too much fun with this. I kept thinking, "I should call the kids down to share in this fun with me. They would love it." But, I was bitten by the ultra-selfish bug and wanted all the fun to myself.

Try it sometime. It's lovely play.

They look so pretty. I've never had an official candy apple. Lots of caramel apples though!
